The Summary of Tasks

Trick or Treat with Chuck Brewster - Chuck Brewster is a local bully. He and his gang of friends have been pretty awful lately. You should probably teach them a lesson. Maybe a prank is in order?
The Monster at the Docks - There has been a rumor going around, some kind of monster was spotted at the docks making strange noises. What is Halloween without some monsters?
Scary Story Contest – The school's library is hosting the annual scary story contest. Your group will need to find or do something truly spooky if they want to win the grand prize this year.

The Case of the Lost Ball and the Haunted Manor – A Complex Task – Earlier today, Billy and his friends were playing outside of the Old Spooky Manor. Somehow (and Billy is not sure how this happened) Billy's favorite ball went flying through one of the old manors windows breaking it. He is really upset and too scared to go in after it. After all, that place is supposedly haunted.
The Townsfolk
Billy – Same species and last name as one of the players - Billy is the younger brother of one of the player's characters. A sweet kid but kind of careless. He never thinks of the future.
Chuck Brewster – Human - The town bully, 12 years old. Chuck is a jerk but mostly because he has been having a rough time of it lately and taking it out on others. He does not have magic, but he does have a slingshot and a habit for pulling mean tricks on people. He is mostly seen hanging around with his friends Ralph and Nash.
Constable Barnstable – Human – James Barnstable is a good natured but not overly bright Police Officer. He strongly believes in following the rules, even if he doesn't always understand them. Fair Haven is a quiet peaceful little town so Constable Barnstable has not had to do much policing.
Jane Milford – Dwarf – The Librarian. A strict but understanding woman. She is very proper and likes to have things in their right place. She spooks easily but loves the thrill of a good scary story. She seems to have read most of the books in the library and is a great source of information. Miss Milford is quite proficient in magic.
Mayor Beverly Quillfell – Elf - A tall older woman with short red hair going gray. She is constantly dressed in snappy pantsuits. Mayor Quillfell is a very positive professional person. She is also prone to making impromptu inspirational speeches and steering conversations to “How great freedom is.”
Mary – Orc – Mary Bristol is a sweet little 6 year old girl who's magic has not come in yet. She is inquisitive and kind. She is almost always seen with her pet cat Quincy.
Rosa Norwood – Orc – A hardworking, tough, sturdy woman who owns and tends to the orchard. She is a bit awkward around people but truly understands and loves plants.
Old Man Jenkins – Elf – Mashpee Jenkins is a cranky curmudgeonly old man who does not take kindly to children or people with magic. Never trusts 'em. He lives in a small house on the outskirts of town. He is cantankerous and the kind who is liable to angrily shake a fist at kids running by having fun. He lives with his semi-faithful basset hound Peabody.
Old Man Ruben – Orc – Franklin Ruben is a kindly old man in the village, he has a bright smile and kind eyes. He will always listen to the children's stories and problems, offering sage advice. Old Man Ruben does know a bit of magic but all of his spells are about the careful growing and maintaining of plants. He lives alone in a house surrounded by a fantastical garden.
Peabody – Dog – Old Man Jenkins's semi-faithful basset hound. Peabody enjoys barking at people and napping. He backs down quickly if anyone or anything stands up to his barking.
Quincy – Cat – Quincy is a fairly large and curious cat. He is almost always seen with his Orc Mary. Quincy is very protective of Mary. He does get a bit skittish when Marry is not around.
Ralph and Nash – Humans –11 years old. Ralph and Nash Milton are brothers and Chuck Brewster's lackeys. They may lead rich personal lives outside of what you have seen, but you only ever see them standing behind Chuck Brewster attempting to look menacing. Ralph it taller and gruff, Nash is shorter and weaselly.
The Locations
The Beach – Fair Haven has an absolutely beautiful beach with soft sand and very gentle waves. It is a popular place to swim, fish, hunt for shells, and while away the day. As the season is changing the water has cooled down but is still warm enough to swim in.
The Docks – Fair Haven is a port town. It has a fairly large series of docks where ships are always coming and going. The docks are also home to a market, several inns, taverns, and is where the rough men and women of the sea make their homes when they are in port.
Graveyard – Your typical small town graveyard. This Halloween, Constable Barnstable is stationed outside the gates to make sure no one raises the dead without a proper permit. If the children want or need to get into the graveyard they will need to find a way to get past Constable Barnstable.
The Market – A lively bustling part of town. There are several shops and stalls selling all sorts of interesting and fun wares. This time of year the market is decorated for Halloween with carved pumpkins, orange and black streamers, and paper decorations hung in windows.
Old Man Jenkins' House – A ramshackle cottage on the edge of town. Most people generally stay away from old man Jenkins and his house as he is not a pleasant person to be around.
The Old Spooky Manor – An abandoned two story house on the outskirts of town. This place is just plain creepy. Some say the house is haunted, and that is a very real possibility as ghosts do definitely exist in this world. At night folks will sometimes hear things moving around in the house or see a shadow pass by a window. The house has been condemned and is falling apart.
School and Library – A large old brick building. Today the school is closed in celebration of Halloween. Around the back of the building is the library, which is still open if anyone wants to check out a book or participate in the scary story contest.
The Orchard – A variety of different kinds of clearly well maintained and well loved apple trees form neat rows. The leaves have turned bright orange and yellow. This time of year, most of the apples have already been picked. There are a scattered few Gold Rush and Pink Lady apples left on the trees.
The Spooky Forest – Named after fabled explorer and one of the town founders Abigail Spooky, the first person to discover just how haunted this particular forest is, very! Children are strictly forbidden from going into the forest as it is far too dangerous. There are many ghosts and monsters who reside there.
The Town – This is where most of the residents of Fair Haven live. It is a collection of cozy cottages and winding streets.
Town Hall – A large brick building with a clock tower. The Town Hall is full of historic plaques informing any who read them about all the important things that happened in Fair Haven's history.
